Research and education

The University of Hohenheim currently offers 12 bachelor courses, including B.Sc. courses in the life sciences, agricultural sciences, economics and social sciences, as well as state exam courses in biology and food chemistry. The number of master courses in the natural sciences, agricultural sciences, economics and social sciences is continually being expanded.

The University of Hohenheim focuses on applied research and education. It strives for excellence in education and research by bringing together different competences and skills, evaluation and quality management. The University of Hohenheim’s objective is to integrate its teaching and research activities with regional and international partners. It also offers numerous further training courses for lifelong education.
The largest faculty is the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, which comprises around fifty percent of all students enrolled at Hohenheim University. Approximately 30 percent of students are enrolled at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, and around 20 percent at the Life Sciences Faculty.

The University of Hohenheim has a unique selling point due to its particular profile that covers the entire chain of the development of natural and economic values through finishing processes, economic utilisation and sustainable return into the ecosystem. The University’s profile topics are the nutrition sciences as part of the food chain, the contribution of agriculture to energy and raw material supply, biological signals as well as innovation and services.
In 2004, Hohenheim became, and remains today, the first university in Baden-Württemberg to be certified as a family-friendly university. The "Studium schnupperale" specifically targets children and adolescents with the aim of awakening their interest in the natural sciences.
