Investigation office focusing on food safety and animal health

The Chemical and Veterinary Investigation Office (CVUA) Stuttgart is one of four state investigation offices in Baden-Württemberg focusing on food safety and animal health. The CVUA in Stuttgart has 200 employees, including food chemists, veterinarians, biologists and technical staff who investigate approximately 24,000 products for harmful substances and around 117,000 animal samples for health risks/diseases per year. Besides the investigation of food and animals, the CVUA Stuttgart also offers consultation services to public authorities and state institutions relating to food monitoring and the control of animal diseases as well as organising additional training events and consulting services for producers and sellers of food or utensils. The CVUA Stuttgart has 7 departments that are housed in two buildings with 4,500 m2 of laboratory space and 1,700 m2 of office space
