Immunotherapy From Motifs To Medicines
Veranstaltungsort: “Botanik” Building Hörsaal N10 Auf der Morgenstelle 3, 72076 Tübingen
Hans-Georg Rammensee`s contribution to the field of immunology Professor Rammensee's pioneering research on the interaction between peptides and MHC molecules has significantly advanced our understanding of Tcell recognition and tolerance mechanisms. His pioneering efforts have facilitated the precise prediction of naturally occurring peptides derived from both self and foreign antigens. This, in turn, has paved the way for the development of sophisticated bioinformatic tools capable of identifying antigens recognized by T cells across a spectrum of conditions, encompassing infections, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. His endeavors have resulted in the establishment of unique databases housing MHC presented peptides, which played a pivotal role in guiding the development of diverse immunotherapeutic strategies that have successfully transitioned into clinical practice. Professor Rammensee's contributions have been instrumental in shaping the design and efficacy of immunotherapies, in particular vaccines and his lifetime achievements have undeniably left an indelible mark on the landscape of immunology.
