PhD student position

A fully funded PhD student position

is available immediately in the research group of Dr. Adrian Streit (http://www.sommerlab.org/research/parasitic-nematodes.html) in the department for Integrative Evolutionary Biology (http://www.sommerlab.org/home.html) at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen, Germany.

 

Topic: The candidate is expected to take part in our newly started efforts of collecting, culturing and characterising different wild isolates of the human parasitic nematode Strongyloides stercoralis and to engage in studies of life history switches in Strongyloides spp.


Requirements: The candidate should have or expect to obtain in the near future a Master's degree in Biology or a related topic. Previous experience with nematodes is not required. The working language in the department is English, knowledge of German is not required. The successful candidate will be enrolled in the institute's international PhD program and must therefore meet all requirements for admission to this program.
