As early as 1989, Dr. Wolf developed the first specialist LCD-based line projectors for 3D measuring using the stripe projection method. LCD projectors are robust and have no mechanically operated components. In addition, short switching times enable a measuring time of just 0.5 seconds to be achieved, making the projectors particularly suitable for the requirements of industry, e.g. for 100% monitoring of production and assembly processes. ABW - Automatisierung und Bildverarbeitung Dr. Wolf GmbH received the award for applied image processing at VISION '94 and VISION 2002, the 7th and 15th international trade fairs for image processing technology components, systems and applications, in Stuttgart, Germany, for its outstanding solutions.

To carry out these services, the company has used NE/Nastran, a universal FEM code for solving structural analysis problems as its main analytical tool since 1998. 3D-CAD services are also offered for product development. 3D-CAD can be linked with CAE applications such as photo-realistic mapping, product animation, FEM calculation or rapid prototyping. ACES has experience in the fields of medical technology, electronics, software development and automation as well as vehicle technology.

As a specialist in CAE applications, ACES advises on the possibilities and shortcomings of, and adaptation options for, the software being used. ACES also supports its customers in the implementation of CAE tools through software adaptations, interfaces, documentation and the programming of additional programs.

AnDiaTec GmbH & Co. KG’s core activities focus on the development, manufacture and sale of in vitro diagnostic tools.

The products marketed include ParaTub® and LactoScan®. ParaTub® is currently the only high-throughput detection method for Mycobacterium paratuberculosis (MAP), the pathogen responsible for incurable paratuberculosis in cattle. MAP causes major economic damage and is also linked to the inflammatory bowel condition called Crohn’s disease in humans.

LactoScan® is a simple and rapid test for reliably detecting lactose intolerance in humans. It is likely that more than 10 million people in Germany are affected by lactose intolerance, a disease that, in the form of primary lactose intolerance, has genetic causes and can lead to under-supplies of lactase between the ages of 6 and 20 and subsequently lead to symptoms typical of the disease.

AnDiaTec GmbH & Co. KG is also an adviser to the WHO in the context of a diagnostic project for enteroviruses in India.
The laboratory is accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO IEC 17025 and 15189

In the field of medical technology, the firm concentrates on oxygen-providing equipment for sports studies, physicians’ practices and vitality centres. The firm’s products include the Oxy-Mini, a small, portable device for oxygen inhalation, the O2-Vit, a small, refillable system for initial oxygen supplies in emergency situations and the Oxy-Genius 10. This is a variable combination device that can be used, for example, for emergency oxygen therapy and oxygen ionisation therapy.

The Oxy-Genius 10 works according to the molecular filter principle: special precision filters (zeoliths) allow only oxygen molecules to pass through, holding back nitrogen and noble gas molecules, thereby significantly increasing the oxygen ratio.

Mikropack is rapidly being expanded into a central European base for the Photonics Group. Mikropack is directly responsible for the distribution of all products for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Another core area of Mikropack’s operations is the development, manufacture and distribution of measuring systems in the thin film metrology sector.

info@novalung.comwww.novalung.com"Solutions for Lung Failure" - this is Novalung’s philosophy. Novalung GmbH started in 2003 as the world's first company to market an artificial lung, the iLA Membrane Ventilator®, which is perfused by the heart like a natural organ. Through this reliable extrapulmonary ventilation, i.e. the removal of carbon dioxide of the lungs, signifies the patients' lung is given “Time to Heal"®. This enables a paradigm shift in the treatment of respiratory failure: from prioritization of pulmonary gas exchange to true of lung protection.

In the meantime this procedures has been established and the portfolio of products for the so-called "ultra-protective" ventilation is constantly growing. Although Novalung operates on an international level, "Made in Germany" applies hundred percent to the iLA Membrane Ventilator®. The complete value chain, research and development, production site as well as marketing is situated exclusively in Germany.

Ovesco’s majority partner is the firm novineon Healthcare Technology Partners GmbH, which also provides the management team.

Ovesco collaborates with various medical and technical institutions such as the Institute of Anatomy at the University of Tübingen. The company produces clip systems and OTSC® (Over-The-Scope-Clip) application systems for the treatment of bleeding and lesions in the digestive tract. These feature an applicator cap mounted to the tip of the endoscope and a super-elastic nitinol clip. The working channel also serves as a conduit for a tool used for positioning the clip correctly.

During flexible endoscopy, use of the instrument allows more tissue to be compressed than previously, thereby facilitating the treatment of perforations and severe bleeding.

www.retina-implant.deRetina Implant AG is a medical technology start-up company founded in 2003 and built on the results of a research project that has been ongoing since 1996 and which involves numerous German university hospitals and research institutions, including the University Eye Hospital in Tübingen, the NMI Natural and Medical Institute in Reutlingen, the Institute of Microelectronics in Stuttgart, die University Eye Hospital and Ophthalmology Outpatients’ Department in Regensburg and the Institute of Physical Electronics at the University of Stuttgart. The company was converted into a corporation (AG=Aktiengesellschaft) in July 2007.

Retina Implant’s scientists primarily focus on patients with retinitis pigmentosa, a hereditary condition that can lead to complete blindness in just a few years. Retina Implant is developing retinal implants that are intended to restore vision after blindness has occurred. The development work focuses on an active, sub-retinal silicon chip with tiny photo-sensors which control an electronic switch enabling the nerve cells of the retina to be supplied with more or less electrical stimulation, depending on the brightness. These send impulses via the optic nerve to the brain which can then generate a picture from these signals. Only recently, 2 blind patients were implanted the sub-retinal chip. Since undergoing surgery, both patients are able to make out shapes.

In April 2006, as part of a capital increase, Mediplan GmbH took around a 25% share in Retina Implant AG by investing Euro 7.5 million in an initial tranche. Mediplan has also committed to investing a further Euro 7.5 million in the company once CE accreditation has been gained, which is required before a medical product can be marketed in Europe. The newly acquired funding will enable Retina Implant to finance clinical trials and the cost of approving the chip for market until it achieves break-even.

Retina Implant AG is hoping to launch a fully functional chip in about two years' time. An important step towards reaching this goal is the recent ISO certification of the company.
