Representatives from Singapore’s Biopolis visit the STERN BioRegion

A delegation of 15 from Biopolis in Singapore took advantage of their visit to „Medica 2009“ in Düsseldorf to get to know the STERN BioRegion. The visitors took part in an interesting programme which gave them insights into the activities of the regional biotech and medtech sectors.

Prof. Wolfgang Hiller and Wolfgang Kleinmann from Technologiepark TTR GmbH gave a welcoming address followed by an introduction to BioRegio STERN Management GmbH from Dr. Manfred Kauer who explained how his company works and gave an overall description of the regional biotech and medtech branches together with their current activities. The visitors then heard short contributions from other companies in the STERN BioRegion such as CureVac GmbH, CeGAT GmbH, Synovo GmbH und Gelcompany GmbH represented by Dr. Wolfgang Klein, Dr. Saskia Biskup, Dr. Mary Eggers and Dr. Duncan Veal respectively who left the delegation with an impressive cross-section of their innovative ideas.
The delegation had been received in the Tübingen Town Hall on the previous day by Lord Mayor Boris Palmer. This was followed by a visit to the Tübingen University Hospital’s Department of Otolaryngology with Prof. Hans-Peter Zenner, to the University Children’s Hospital with Prof. Rupert Handgretinger and finally to the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute NMI in Reutlingen where Prof. Hugo Hämmerle and his colleagues presented their Institute to give the visitors an idea of their innovative work on numerous research topics and technology transfer.
