Reorganisation of Supervisory Board
Reutlingen’s Lord Mayor Barbara Bosch took up the reins on 5 February 2010 as the new chair of the Supervisory Board of BioRegio STERN Management GmbH. The role of deputy is being taken on by the previous chairman, Dr. Walter Rogg.

The Supervisory Board will continue to be fully committed to BioRegio STERN Management GmbH successfully promoting biotechnology companies in the Stuttgart and Neckar-Alb regions and in the cities of Stuttgart, Tübingen, Esslingen and Reutlingen. The transfer of the chairperson’s role from Dr. Walter Rogg to his hitherto deputy Barbara Bosch signals continuity, particularly as Dr. Rogg has become the new deputy.
Bosch, Lord Mayor of Reutlingen since 2003, is looking forward to her new duties as head of the board: “Collaboration on the Supervisory Board of BioRegio STERN is shaped by knowledge of the opportunities that exist in the biotech and medtech industries. Networking of research and economic structures provides the basis for future innovation. The current economic climate in particular shows that growing future-focused sectors by pooling resources in multi-regional cooperation can benefit all partners. Success is reflected in the growing number of companies and the jobs they create in these high-tech fields.”
Dr. Walter Rogg – Managing Director of WRS, the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation – will also be providing active support for the work of the network as deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board: “BioRegio STERN has been a driving force behind collaboration in the Stuttgart metropolitan region since 2001. The network has scored considerable successes during this period and this has also been honoured at national level in Germany, for example with an award as one of Germany’s best competence networks and success in the “Health Regions of the Future” competition organised by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). We can carry this success story forward thanks to the highly experienced team led by Dr. Eichenberg and the continuity on the Supervisory Board.”
Changes in the composition of the entire supervisory board have been brought about by recent local elections and the changes in personnel associated with these. Regional councillors Roswitha Schenk and Helmut Hartmann (both Stuttgart Region), Jeannette Wopperer (Regional Director of Verband Region Stuttgart) and Eugen Höschele (Chairman of the Neckar-Alb Regional Planning and Development Agency) will therefore replace four departing members.
In her first meeting as chair, Barbara Bosch wasted no time in highlighting that BioRegio STERN probably faces its busiest year so far. Development of the Users’ Centre for Regenerative Medicine (REGiNA) is being driven forward, while the website http://www.info-rm.de and the new hotline for doctors and patients are due to go live early in the summer. BioStar 2010 in October will once again see a major international congress take place in the region.
Dr. Klaus Eichenberg, Managing Director of BioRegio STERN Management GmbH, is looking forward to continuing the excellent collaboration with the Supervisory Board: “Over the years, this board has shown outstanding expertise and commitment in underpinning the philosophy of BioRegio STERN and providing professional support in its activities. Ms. Bosch and Dr. Rogg have always adopted a constructive approach to handling our projects. We look forward to further successful collaboration.”
BioRegio STERN Management GmbH would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Euchner, Dr. Edmund Merkel, Claus Schmiedel, Member of the State Parliament, and Dr. Jürgen Wurmthaler for their many years of service on the Supervisory Board.
