Regenerative Biology

One particular strength of the STERN BioRegion is its far-reaching, wide-ranging expertise in all aspects of regenerative biology, which gives the region its exceptional profile.
The main players in the STERN region developed a concept from this profile and used it to win the BioProfile competition organised by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The STERN region has received over 20 million euros of funding through the competition.
It is no longer possible to apply for funding under the BioProfile programme, but the work continues. The projects receiving funding have brought the partners in the region closer together. New ideas, concepts and products have been created that are carrying the STERN BioRegion’s reputation into the future.
One key milestone in 2006 was the founding of the Centre for Regenerative Biology and Regenerative Medicine (ZRM) by the University of Tübingen and the University Hospital.
The activities are accompanied by outstanding events such as BioStar, the world’s only international congress for regenerative biology, which is held bi-annually in Stuttgart. A further BioRegion STERN Management GmbH initiative is the well-known international platform regenerationnet.com.
