Training that offers a wide range of prospects

Graduates from the private training college of the Deutsches Erwachsenen-Bildungswerk (German Adult Education Centre) in Fellbach received their certificates last Friday from principal Claudia Volz. The newly qualified assistants in chemical and pharmaceutical engineering were joined by twelve biotechnology assistants (BioTA). The year’s top BioTA-graduate, Juliane Maget, received a Euro 250 award from BioRegio STERN Management GmbH.

"Bold ideas need to be enjoyable"

BioRegio STERN Management GmbH honoured the winners of the regional “Science2Start” competition last Thursday evening. The victors celebrated their success with over 300 guests at a joint summer reception organised by BioRegio STERN Management GmbH, the Society for the Promotion of Biotechnology Stuttgart/Tübingen/Neckar-Alb e.V. and Technologiepark Tübingen-Reutlingen GmbH.

Under the slogan “Science in Exchange”, the fourth staging of this internationally established congress will be bringing together scientists and practitioners from all disciplines who are involved in regenerative biology and medicine.

Real cowboys have heard of Kornwestheim

AnDiaTec GmbH & Co. KG from Kornwestheim is in high demand worldwide as a partner specialising in detection methods for bacteria and viruses. The company is a world market leader in real time PCR Kits for the detection of noroviruses. The U.S. Ministry of Agriculture even draws on the expertise of An-DiaTec in relation to virus infections in cattle. After an intensive period of research and development, the company is now expanding its sales network even further. The first contracts have already been signed with pharmaceutical groups.

International research made free and easy

In Germany, BioRegio STERN Management GmbH is distributing vouchers from the EU FASILIS project to life science companies in the region comprising Stuttgart, Tübingen, Esslingen, Reutlingen and Neckar-Alb. Along with six other selected clusters in Belgium, Denmark, the U.K. and the Netherlands, it is thus contributing to the transnational networking of business interests and research. During the first call, 36 vouchers were distributed in the European regions, and a further 46 are available for the second call.

New rules for the biotech sector

Auditors Ernst & Young presented the German Biotechnology Report 2010 at the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart on 19 May. Many entrepreneurs took up the invitation of BioRegio STERN Management GmbH and LBBW Venture Capital GmbH to learn about the details and analyses of the annual industry survey at first hand.

Bright future for medtech companies

Auditors Ernst & Young presented the Medical Technology Report 2010 at the Villa Eugenia in Hechingen on Wednesday, 28 April. This exclusive advance release of the report, which set out the latest figures including those from the first quarter of this year, outlined the situation in the industry. It is intended to become a standard work alongside the already established Biotechnology Report. The hosts for the event were BioRegio STERN Management GmbH and the Medical Valley Hechingen Academy. The detailed industry assessment and presentations by experts from banks and investment companies were received with considerable interest.

Next step towards international cooperation

(Stuttgart/Chaumont/Nogent, 31 March 2010) – Representatives from companies and research institutes based in the STERN BioRegion met metalworking and surface treatment specialists in France. The collaboration between BioRegio STERN Management GmbH and Pôle Technologique de Haute-Champagne, PTHC, opens up the way for making new contacts, sharing innovative ideas and exploring cooperation options. A reception at the town hall in Chaumont was followed by visits to companies, lectures and a trip to the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer, CRITT.

Launch of FASILIS transnational cooperation forum

On Tuesday 23 March, the Tübingen-Reutlingen Technology Park (TTR) was the destination for entrepreneurs keen to find out more about the FASILIS EU project. This transnational pilot project helps small and medium-sized businesses benefit from the research, infrastructure and service portfolios of the participating European regions. The cooperation forum uses a voucher system to promote innovation and the establishment of new business relationships. In Germany, BioRegio STERN Management GmbH distributes these vouchers to companies in the life sciences sector in the STERN BioRegion.
