Development of a medical training programme

Inmedea GmbH is currently developing Prometheus, a teaching and training system that offers a realistic hospital simulation. The virtual hospital features various departments, each with typical patients, and a virtual multimedia library. The library includes a large collection of texts, tutorials, training programmes and reference works and offers a platform for acquiring theoretical knowledge, which is then applied in the virtual clinic and translated into expertise for use in real-life scenarios. The Prometheus project was funded up to 2003 as part of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) "New Media in Education" initiative. The idea and concept behind the solution were developed by a working group from the Department of Neuroradiology at the University of Tübingen headed by Professor Voigt.
