Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences

The Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences was established in 1971 and has three faculties – Engineering, Business and Computer Science, Life Sciences. There are currently around 2500 students enrolled at Albstadt and Sigmaringen, with 50% at each of the two sites. Since its foundation in 1971, Albstadt-Sigmaringen University has concentrated on establishing and maintaining close contacts with local, regional and international companies.

The 18 bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes are adapted to industry requirements; the students have a practical study semester integrated into the course and they also undertake a broad range of project work where they work in companies to acquire practical know-how. Albstadt-Sigmaringen was one of the first universities of applied sciences to adopt the new international bachelor’s and master’s courses. In the winter semester 2009/2010, the bachelor’s degree course in Textile Product Technology – Technical Textiles will be offered for the first time.

The University offers the following 7-semester bachelor’s degree programmes: Clothing Technology, Textile Product Engineering – Technical Textiles, Communication and Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration and Engineering, Business Administration, Business Informatics, Facility Management, Food/Nutrition/Hygiene, Pharmaceutical Technology.

Building on the bachelor’s degree courses, the University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen offers master’s degree programmes (3 semesters) in Textile and Clothing Management, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering – Computer-Aided Product Development and Manufacturing, Business Administration and Engineering – Production Management, particularly with regard to the automotive industry, Business Administration, Business Informatics, Biomedical Engineering as well as Facility Design and Management.
