Further success for STERN – "Science2Start" project gets underway - Targeted assistance to transform ideas into successful companies

In order to increase the number of sustainable new businesses in Baden-Württemberg, the Ministry called for applications on "Specific measures to support target groups and sectors in setting up new businesses" in February of this year. This is being financed by funds from the "Regional Competitiveness and Employment" objective of the European Social Fund.

With "Science2Start – targeted promotion and support of start-up companies in the life sciences sector", BioRegio STERN Management GmbH is keen to set even more new companies on course for success. To this end, a Science2Start ideas competition will be run to capture the imagination of scientists at further education institutions and research institutes and make them more aware of the whole topic of business start-ups. An award will be presented for the idea that best combines scientific excellence with marketing potential. In addition, a Science2Start Lounge will provide a forum for networking and sharing ideas and experiences. A Science2Business programme and road shows to be held at all relevant further education institutions and research institutes complete the range of projects designed to give start-ups and young entrepreneurs the support they need and integrate them into the regional network. Dr. Kathrin Ballesteros Katemann, project manager at STERN, comments: "We will help to take the ideas stored in the minds and filing cabinets of these scientists and transform them into successful companies and market-ready products."
