MITT The Centre of Competence for Minimally Invasive Medicine & Technology Tübingen-Tuttlingen
The MITT is a non-profit-making organisation supported by funds from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the State of Baden-Württemberg. By means of consultancy and information services, it encourages knowledge transfer between scientific, handicraft and industrial undertakings in order to strengthen Germany as a location for first-rate medical technology.
The centre’s staff oversee projects, geared for example to developing new instruments or methods, provide details of potential investors and work on obtaining funding. If required, expert consultants supervise projects from start to finish, including financial controlling. The consultancy input also includes research and market analyses on medtech issues and assistance with licensing matters.
The MITT is ideally located close to the numerous medtech companies and institutes in the STERN BioRegion. However, its services are not restricted to the core area between Tübingen and Tuttlingen, but are available across different disciplines and regions to all interested parties from research and industry.
In the STERN region, the MITT benefits from its proximity to the strong biotech industry. Demand for biotechnology know-how is growing, especially in minimally invasive medicine, for example to develop biocompatible coatings for instruments and implants.
